A round, not a visit
Grounds maintenance works the way strata cleaning does: a consistent round on a predictable cycle, so the site never reaches the state where it needs rescuing. Mowing and edging, hedge and shrub trimming, garden bed weeding, path and gutter blowing down, and rubbish picked out of beds and car park edges.
Frequency follows the growing season rather than the calendar. Through a Sydney spring and summer most sites want a fortnightly round; through winter, monthly is usually enough. Setting one frequency for the whole year either wastes money in July or lets the site get away from you in November.
Seasonal and periodic work
Green waste is removed at the end of each visit. Leaving it in bags beside the bin room is a common shortcut that simply moves the problem onto the building’s waste contract and, on strata sites, onto the committee.
- Mulching and garden bed renewal
- Pruning and structural hedge work
- Fertilising and lawn treatment
- Storm clean-up and debris clearing
- Gutter and downpipe clearing on accessible single-storey runs
- Bed replanting and turf repair
Grounds and cleaning on one contract
On strata and commercial sites, grounds and cleaning overlap constantly. The same visit that blows down a path is the visit that notices the entry glass needs attention, and the leaf litter cleared from a car park is the same litter that would otherwise be walked into the lobby.
Running both on one contract means one team, one point of contact and one invoice — and it removes the familiar argument about whether the leaves in the entry are the cleaner’s problem or the gardener’s.
